Couple name Britain’s first sextuplets
The parents of Britain’s first sextuplets in a quarter of a century have named their babies.
Nuala Conway gave birth to four girls and two boys in the space of five minutes at the Royal Jubilee Maternity Hospital in Belfast on Friday. The babies were conceived naturally, without IVF.
The babies were delivered by Caesarean section 14 weeks early, weighing between 1lb 7oz and 2lb 2oz. They are in intensive care.
Nuala and her husband, Austin, had named the girls Shannon, Kerry, Carla and Natasha, according to British media reports.
Their two boys, who are understood to be identical twins, have been named Austin and Eoin.
The birth of sextuplets is rare, occurring in about one out of 4.5m pregnancies.
