Baby arrives after 16 years as frozen embryo
An infertile New Zealand couple have used a donated embryo frozen for nearly 16 years to have a baby.
It is believed to be the second longest an embryo has been frozen before being used to produce a baby.
Baby Cadence was born by Caesarean section on April 2 in Auckland.
She had spent 15½ years frozen at -196C as a two-cell embryo before being thawed and implanted in her new mum’s womb.
